Faculty/Staff Centralized PC & Laptop Purchase Program

The Office of Information Technology has a centralized computer purchasing program. This program is designed to maximize the financial resources of the university by ensuring computers purchased meet environmental and efficiency standards, are appropriately sized and equipped for the type of work being performed, and are standardized for efficient support.  We have worked with HP, Dell, and Apple to secure access to state-contract pricing on desktops, tablets PCs, laptops, and portable devices for institutional use.  Additionally, this program will ensure all computers meet Energy Star and EPEAT standards for efficiency and environmental responsibility.

The ordering process is as follows:

• Send your request to helpdesk@clarkson.du
• Your ticket will be assigned to the OIT representative responsible for supporting your area
• They will work with you to put together a list of technical requirements and then provide a quote for a university-approved device
• After supplying OIT with an account/budget code and approval from department head, the device will be ordered
• In the event that OIT cannot source a suitable device in a timely manner - you may be allowed to order through third-party retailers like Amazon
  • More favorable pricing alone is not reason enough to purchase through third-party retailers
  • Third-party vendor ordering will require VP for Information Technology approval

All computer purchases using University funds must be made from this standardized listing. It is understood that the recommended systems may not be appropriate for research use. We also recognize that in a small percentage of cases, some may have specific needs that the standard PC or Laptop may not address. We will be glad to work with you in these unique cases to find an appropriate solution.  We try to keep a small inventory of the standard units on hand to expedite deployment.  Any computers that need to be ordered will have a 3 to 4-week lead time for delivery.

*All computers are sold to you at our cost.  Because of this, prices may vary slightly based on the price of the unit at the time of its acquisition. OIT will try our hardest to update the prices on this page when changes occur.

How to order through this program

To order, simply place a request through the university Helpdesk via email to helpdesk@clarkson.edu or x4357.  The IT HelpDesk and the Satellite Support Reps will help to assess your needs and give you options and pricing.  Please note that prices and availability are subject to change.
