Moodle Course Life Cycle

Summary

This article describes the policy related to course availability to students and the length of time courses are stored on Moodle. 

Detail:

Course Availability:

Moodle course availability is turned off to students starting 14 days after final grades are posted at the end of the term.

Example:

Fall semester -

    • December 18: Final grades available.
    • January 1: Courses no longer available. 

Course Storage:

OIT stores the previous 5 full semesters of courses in Moodle. Anything older than 5 semesters or 2.5 years is purged from Moodle and permanently deleted.  Courses content can not be retrieved. 

Instructors can create a back up copy of course content for longer term storage.
