Move videos to Echo360 for Migration Prep

Create a copy of the course with the videos

  1. Create a blank course in Moodle in the following category: Courses -> Miscellaneous -> Instructional Design -> Sandboxes
    • Use the following naming convention:

  2. From the new course, import in the section that the instructor has chosen for the migration.

Download the videos

  1. Search through the course and download each video that has been uploaded directly into the Moodle course. Many times it will look like this:

Set up a new section in Echo360

  1. As an admin in Echo360, go to Courses, then click New Section.
  2. When the Create Section box displays:
    1. Search for and select the course.
    2. Choose Miscellaneous for the term.
    3. In the section box, type M4 Migration.
    4. Assign yourself as the instructor for the course.
    5. Click Save.

Upload videos into Echo360

  1. Navigate to the M4 Migration section that was just set up in Echo360.
  2. For each video that needs to be uploaded:
    1. Locate the video in the Moodle 3 course and copy the title of the video/link.
    2. In Echo360, click New Class.
    3. Paste the title of the video into the Name field.
    4. Click Save.
    5. Click the plus sign to the right of the video's title and choose Add Video.
    6. Click Upload File.
    7. Locate the file on your computer and click Upload.
      • Note: The video will take a few minutes to upload and process, depending on it's size.

When the videos have fully processed in Moodle, for each video that needs to be linked:

  1. Navigate to the location of the existing video and copy the title of the video/link.
  2. Within the same module, click +Add an activity or resource.
  3. Choose External tool.
  4. Paste the title into the Activity name field.
  5. Select Echo360 from the Preconfigured tool dropdown menu.
  6. Click Save and return to course.
  7. Click the link that was just created.
  8. The first time that a video is linked from Echo360, choose the course's name
