About E-Waste:

E-waste isare electronic devices that are no longer of use.use to you, your department, program or area.

Steps:

When you wish to discard e-waste, please contact the OIT Help Desk to determine thenext best course of action.steps.

AtOIT times,will e-wastedetermine whether the item can be repaired under warranty free of charge or much more cost effectively than purchasing new. It may be possiblerepurposed for itemsothers to be refresheduse, and madewill availableredistribute to others. Monitors, keyboards, mice, cables, can be loaned to others. 

Clarkson University's Office of Information Technology fully subscribes to the sustainability policy and goals.accordingly.  

When andevices item is determinedare "end of life", weOIT havewill contracteddirect withit to a specialthird E-wasteparty firmprovider thatfor recycles these items. recycling. Computers must have the hard drives removed and physically destroyed to prevent any data/security breaches.

Please avoid posting e-waste for campus distribution. And please do not throw out electronic items on your ownown.  -OIT contactis available to pick up items for permanently removal.

Audio devices such as stereos and radios

Video devices such as camcorders, VCRs & DVD players

Telephones and cell phones
Kitchen appliances

Microwave ovens

Vacuum cleaners

Light bulbs

Fluorescent tubes

Batteries (require special handling)
