Request Tutoring

Purpose

You have the ability to sign up for small group tutoring for any class you are enrolled in through the tutoring portal. These small groups meet weekly at a specific time. Once you register, you are expected to attend each weekly session. The tutoring portal also includes information for drop-in (no registration required) tutoring availability.

Steps to Request Tutoring

  1. Visit the tutoring portal at go.clarkson.edu/tutoring. This will bring you to your My Tutoring page. Click on the Request Tutoring box near the top of your screen.
    • If you have already registered for small group tutoring for the current semester, those tutoring sessions will be shown on the My Tutoring page.tutor_portal.png
  2. If small groups are already created for your class(es), they will be shown at the top of the screen. If you do not have small groups listed, please skip to step 7.
  3. Find the small group session you want to join based on your availability and click Sign up for this session. This will open a pop-up window.tutor_smallgroup.png
  4. Confirm the day and time of the tutoring session. There is a reminder that submitting this request means you agreeing to attend each weekly tutoring session and will reach out to your tutor if you can not attend for any reason.
  5. Click submit to confirm your registration for the small group.tutor_smallgroup2.png
  6. If there are no small groups already created for the class you need tutoring for (or none that work with your availability, you can request tutoring by clicking the Request Tutoring button. This will open a popup allowing you to provide your availability.
    • The Request column also lets you see the status of your previous tutoring requests
    • Fulfilled: you have been added to a small group. Check your My Tutoring page and/or your email for details about the day and time
    • Pending: your request has been submitted but you have not yet been assigned to a small grouptutor_request.png
  7. In the popup window, select multiple days and times you are available.
    • The more availability you provide, the easier it will be to fulfill your tutoring request.
  8. Once you have entered your availability for each day, click Submit. tutor_request2.png
  9. You can also access drop-in tutoring while waiting to be placed in a small group or in addition to joining a small group. Details about each tutoring location, including hours and available tutors, is shown at the bottom of the Request Tutoring page.tutor_dropin.png
