eWaste

Clarkson University's Office of Information Technology fully subscribes to the sustainability policy and goals.  When you find that you have electronic devices that are no longer of use, we ask that you contact the OIT helpdesk so we can determine the best course of action.  We often find that damaged items can be repaired under warranty free of charge or much more cost-effectively than purchasing new.  We "refresh" older working computers and reassign them to others such as graduate students.  We frequently loan out peripherals such as monitors, keyboards, mice, cables, etc. and are constantly looking to maintain an inventory of those items.

When we determine that an item is irreparable or has reached "end of life" and is no longer of value, we have contracted with a special E-waste firm that recycles these items.  We have special e-waste only bins located in CAMP.  Computers must have the hard drives removed and physically destroyed to prevent any data/security breaches.

Please do not throw out electronic items on your own.
Contact the helpdesk and we'll come pick them up for evaluation!
