Choose Eduroam for secure WiFi at Clarkson University

Summary

Go eduroam! Students, faculty and staff choose eduroam for secure wireless connections on the Potsdam and CRC campuses.

Features:Features of eduroam:

  • Connect you to your building's network
  • Access on-campus resources
  • Access devices you have in your on-campus office or residence from anywhere on campus
  • Quick access at other participating eduroam universities.

How to Access eduroam:

Quick first time set up:

1) From your laptop, smart phone or other wireless device, download the eduroam CAT (Configuration Assistant Tool) linked below. iOS must use Safari browser.

2) Install eduroam app.

3) Provide your username as: username@clarkson.edu when prompted.

The ClarksonUniversity network is available with no authentication for general and guest network access. However performance on this network will be limited, and since it is open, it is NOT considered secure. Only use this network to connect to eduroam CAT, or if your device cannot use eduroam.

Clarkson University is also part of the eduroam network. Using eduroam on-campus, as a member of the University, will connect you to your building's network. You will be able to access on-campus resources, as well as the devices you have in your on-campus office or residence from anywhere on campus. Also, members of other participating eduroam universities will have access to a more consistent wireless experience, regardless of institution.

You must use the CAT (Configuration Assistant Tool) linked above to connect to eduroam. This is so eduroam can install the certificates needed to validate the eduroam SSID and authentication servers.

You must provide your username as: username@clarkson.edu when prompted. If you do not include @clarkson.edu, eduroam will not work. This is because eduroam has more participants than just Clarkson, so it needs to know which university to authenticate against.
